Throughout writing in middle school and in high school, MLA was the only format I that was taught and used. Both my middle school and my high schools were very strict on having proper in text citations as well as a proper works cited page. Coming into college, this has been very helpful, although a lot of my classes use APA format which I have not learned previously. When I am unsure of how to cite something, I have been referencing the Little Seagull Handbook that we were required to buy for English Composition 110. This handbook is very helpful because it shows almost every way how to cite something with many different circumstances. I think that in this paper I integrated my quotes and cited them better than I have in previous papers. For some reason, I found it easier to do with these writings and the topic.

Parenthetical Citation: “The ‘career education’ bandwagon seems to suggest that shortcuts are available to students that lead directly to high-paying jobs — leaving out ‘frills’ like learning how to write and speak well, how to understand the nuances of literary texts and scientific concepts, how to collaborate with others on research” (Ungar, Para 4).
