Artifact 1 – SPE 315

I believe this artifact fits into Standard 7 of the CCSS and Standard 5 in the CECS. In Standard 7 from the CCSS, the teacher uses content knowledge, cross-disciplinary skills, learners, community, and pedagogy to plan instruction created to support every student to meet the learning goals. My lesson plan was adapted from a previous lesson plan I had created in another Education course. I adapted it by relating the CCSS standard to a CECS one as well as adding in the students’ IEP goals. This was done in a group for this course. In Standard 5 from the CECS, special education professionals select, adapt, and use evidence-based instructional strategies to advance learning of students who need the added support.

I think this will help me when I become a teacher in order to help support my students that have IEP goals. This could also be a useful skill to make sure I differentiate for my students. Having this kind of practice can help me when I am a general education elementary teacher in numerous ways when working in an inclusive environment.
