I believe this artifact fits into Standard 8 of the CCSS and Standard 5 in the CECS. In Standard 8 from the CCSS, the teacher uses a variety of instructional strategies to encourage students to develop an understanding of content areas, create connections, and build skills to access and apply content. This artifact is created for a child in pieces in order to understand the outcome of a task when performing the steps. In Standard 5 from the CECS, special education professionals select, adapt, and use evidence-based instructional strategies to advance learning of students who need the added support. I created my social story using pictures of my cousin who loves to swim. Going off of the examples and information provided about social stories, I created my own story about swimming.
I think this will help me when I become a teacher so I can show my students why we are learning what we are learning. Sometimes, we cannot connect school content to life outside of school and I think this would be a good visual tool to show students for things they cannot see in real life. As for other students, this could be beneficial for a multitude of learning topics to solidify processes and information.
